Installing and Running RHEL9 on QNAP TS-i410X

image.png

If you experience kernel panic when launching RHEL9 installer or booting RHEL9 kernel, you need to blacklist pinctrl_elkhartlake kernel module.

The problem has been described in RedHat KB article:

https://access.redhat.com/solutions/6628471

Solution

Use kernel bootable parameter during install and after install.

module_blacklist=pinctrl_elkhartlake

Newer distributions don't seem to exhibit this problem. I've tested the following and did not encounter any problems.

  • Debian 12
  • Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
  • Fedora 39
